Twelve months, each on two pages. The top page charts every planting window open that month, one row per crop, with the frost dates marked. The bottom page is the grid: each day lists what to start indoors, set out or sow that day, the frost dates, sunrise and sunset, moon phases and US federal holidays. The cover shows your frost-free season across the year, and the back explains how to read it and names every source.
From the nearest NOAA weather station's 1991-2020 Climate Normals: 30 years of records. The last frost and first frost are the dates a 32°F night ends and begins in most years (5 years in 10). We also print the safer planting date, when a later frost comes only 1 year in 10. We never blend stations or adjust a date, and if the station is far away the calendar says so.
From university extension planting tables: the University of New Hampshire, Colorado State University and the University of Minnesota. Each window counts whole weeks from your typical last frost, and garlic from your first hard freeze, the way those tables say to.
Two reasons. Where frost is rare, NOAA publishes no typical frost date, so there is nothing honest to count planting weeks from. And where the frost-free season runs 300 days or more, the planting tables we print (written for gardens with a cold winter) would give dates that may not fit. The fishing calendar works anywhere.
Yes, for any month. Your photo replaces that month's chart page, cropped to the page's shape. We tell you if a photo is too small to print sharply. Use only photos you took or have the right to print.
Each page is A4 landscape (11.7 x 8.3 inches), so the calendar opens to 11.7 x 16.5 inches when it hangs. It is printed on 300gsm silk paper and wire bound.
Each calendar is printed to order, which takes about five business days, then ships to you within the US. Shipping is included in the $39. For Christmas delivery, order by December 8.
Every calendar is made for one place and one person, so we can't take returns. If yours arrives damaged, misprinted or not at all, email us within 30 days and we'll reprint it free.
