How it works

Drawn for your place, printed for you

  1. Step 1
Pick your trail, river, town or place

Search our trail and river directories, pick a town you visited, upload the GPX from your own hike or float, or find a park or peak and frame it on the poster.

  2. Step 2
    Make it yours

Switch the map layers you want, choose cream, midnight or forest, and write the title and a line of your own: who was there, and when.

  3. Step 3
    We print and ship it

Printed to order on matte art paper in the size you pick, and shipped from a US print lab. It looks the way it did in your preview.

A keepsake from a trip that mattered, or a gift for whoever led it.

Not sure which trail or river they would pick? Give a gift certificate and let them make their own.

Common questions

Poster questions

Your trail drawn over shaded terrain and contour lines, a north arrow, the trail name and a line of your own, the distance and elevation gain, the coordinates, and an elevation profile of the whole route. Every map is drawn from real elevation data for that exact place.

Yes. Search for a river by name, and add the nearest town to pick the stretch you know ("Snake River Jackson"). The poster draws that section over the real terrain, with its river miles, how far it drops from one end to the other, and an elevation chart that reads downstream. Upload the GPX from your float to draw your own line on it too.

Yes. Pick "A town" and search for it. The poster frames about 11 miles around the town and pins it by name, then draws what is out there: the trails, rivers and roads, the highest peaks, and the waterfalls, campgrounds and nature sites like arches and springs. Businesses are never on it. It makes a souvenir you can order any time after the trip, and you can move the frame, switch layers off and add the GPX of a hike you did there.

Yes. Search for a town, a national park or a named peak, then drag and zoom the map until it frames the place the way you want. You can add more routes to any poster (up to five on a trail poster), from our trail directory or your own GPX files.

Yes. Shaded relief, contour lines, other trails, rivers, roads, peak names, waterfalls, campgrounds, nature sites, the start and end markers and the elevation profile each have their own switch, and the preview changes as you flip them. Roads appear on town-sized maps, roughly 20 miles across or less.

Yes. Upload a GPX file from your watch, a phone app or the GoHubs app and the poster draws your exact route. We use the file only to print your poster.

Upload a GPX of it instead. Most watches and hiking apps can export one, and you can name the poster anything you like.

Terrain and contours come from Terrain Tiles, a public domain elevation model built from USGS 3DEP and SRTM. Trails come from the USDA Forest Service, the USGS and OpenStreetMap, rivers from the USGS National Hydrography Dataset, roads and towns from the US Census Bureau (TIGER/Line and the Census Gazetteer), campgrounds from Recreation.gov, and peak, waterfall and nature site names from USGS GNIS. Each poster credits its sources along the bottom edge.

Three sizes: 12 x 16, 18 x 24 and 24 x 32 inches, each in three finishes. A paper print is 200 gsm enhanced matte art paper, unframed. A framed print comes in a black, white or natural wood frame with an acrylic front, ready to hang. A canvas is stretched over a slim wood frame with the edges wrapped, also ready to hang. You see the price for each before you buy.

Each poster is printed to order and usually arrives within 5 to 10 business days anywhere in the US. Shipping is included in the price.

Every poster is made to order for one person, so we can't take returns. If yours arrives damaged, misprinted or not at all, email us within 30 days and we'll reprint it free.
